Are You More About Control… or Prosperity?

We all have a prosperity propensity. It’s the way we approach money. A money MO – a modus operandi (“MO”). Let’s explore what yours might be.

Think about where you fall on the judgment versus appreciation scale when it comes to money.

Are you someone who tends to judge how others are around money? Do you spend energy assessing how they spend, value, earn and save their money? These might be people you work with, live with, are friends with or just know of. Perhaps you feel judged by others when it comes to how you handle your money.

On the other hand, perhaps you sit in a place of appreciation for others regarding how they handle money.

You see that everyone is on their own journey and makes their own decisions.

You may choose a different path but you don’t spend your time judging others.

It’s also helpful to look at where you fall on the attention versus avoidance scale with money.

Typically, more attention is good, but as with most things there can be a shadow side. Too much attention can turn extreme and unhelpful. Imagine living with someone who is high on attention. They might fall into the controlling category. Not always easy to talk about finances when you’re feeling judged by this person. Or maybe you’re the controlling one and wonder why you argue so much with your partner about money.

What if you’re high on avoidance and high on appreciation? You might be very happy to have your partner or advisor handling money for you. This may work for a while but your passivity could ultimately end up with you being unable to deal with your money.

If you’re high in attention and appreciation your MO tends toward prosperity. This is cool, right? Yes, AND … 

I challenge you to make sure you’re supporting and inspiring those around you to join you as well.

Your Money MO is not permanent. You can move to a place of more appreciation and attention. Your money (and likely those around you) would love to see you do just that!
